Elections/Voter Registration

The County Clerk is the Chief Election Official for the County maintaining voter registration, candidate filing, confirming the polling location, finding and training poll workers, proofing the ballots, ordering and safe keeping of the paper ballots, programming and testing the electronic voting machines, publishing sample ballots, early and absentee ballots, preparing the election day precincts kits, counting the votes election night and maintaining the security of the election during the entire process.

Clerk of the County Commission

The County Clerk’s Office maintains the scheduling for the County Commission meetings, prepare and record the County Commission agendas and minutes. Click below for more information concerning the commission.

Document Recording

The County Clerk’s Office records and maintains County records such as: deeds, leases, right of ways, plats, wills, deed of trusts, mortgages, releases, judgments, liens, abstracts, assignments, oath of office, power of attorneys, church trustees, bonds and DD-214- Military discharge.

Vital Records

Record vital records: births, deaths and marriages. We issue marriages license for those getting married in West Virginia, marriage certificates for those that applied for a license in Mineral County, birth certificates if born in Mineral County and death certificates for those whom passed away in Mineral County.

Payroll/Accounts Payables

Human Resources for County employees: handling payroll and benefits such as health insurance and retirement. We handle accounts payable for County Commission entities. This includes paying the county bills for the courthouse, the detention center, 911 center, dog pound, community corrections and the extension office. Responsible for monitoring the County Budget and retaining County financial statements.

Estates/Probate

Appoint personal representative for estates, Executors or Administrators Record wills, appraisements and settlements, advertise for creditors’ claims, appoint fiduciary Commissioners when required.

Other Duties

We are an agent for the West Virginia Department of Natural Resources which allows us to sell and handle hunting & fishing license.

We are authorized by the West Virginia State Auditor to accept payment for real estate redemptions that were sold to individuals at the Sheriff’s yearly tax sale.

The County Clerk is the Secretary for the Mineral County Civil Service Commission for the Deputy Sheriffs.
